The chair of the committee will preside over the meeting according to the CVRD procedure bylaw. This meeting may include participation by members of the committee via electronic communication.

Report dated September 3, 2024 regarding Temporary Use Permit TUP 1C 24 – 46 Mills Road (Hoidas) to enable the use of the lot to host a recreational vehicle for residential occupancy for receipt. [Item

Consideration of the addendum will be given regarding comments relating to TUP 1C 24 – 46 Mills Road (Hoidas)
 
Additionally, the Electoral Areas Services Committee will consider any comments or presentations from adjacent property owners in attendance at the meeting.
 
Recommendation:
 
THAT a Temporary Use Permit (TUP 1C 24) be approved for a term of two years to permit residential use of a recreational vehicle on the property described as Lot 3, District Lot 160, Comox District, Plan 29301, PID 001-412-396 (46 Mills Road);

AND FINALLY THAT the Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the Temporary Use Permit once the applicant has provided a written acknowledgement that the applicant has read, understands and agrees to the conditions of the permit.

8) DENMAN COMMUNITY LAND TRUST ASSOCIATION REQUEST FOR FUNDING

Recommendation:
 
THAT a $10,000 grant be provided to the Denman Community Land Trust Association for the purposes of pre-subdivision development costs associated with the proposed affordable housing project on a portion of the property at 3661 Piercy Road, Denman Island;

AND FURTHER THAT the 2024-2029 Financial Plan for function 555, Denman Island Economic Development Service be amended to include a grant in the amount of $6,000 funded by the Future Expenditure Reserve to partially support the $10,000 contribution to the Denman Community Land Trust Association.

AND FURTHER THAT a $4,000 Rural Communities Grant be supported from the Denman Island Grant in Aid Service, function 123, to partially support the $10,000 contribution to the Denman Island Land Trust Association.

THAT an application to the Union of BC Municipalities Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, in an amount of up to $240,000 for the Hornby Island Fire Rescue, Denman Island Fire Rescue, Union Bay Fire Rescue, Fanny Bay Fire Protection Area, Merville Fire Protection Area, and Mount Washington Fire Protection Area, for fire department equipment and training, as outlined in Appendix A, attached to the staff report dated September 04, 2024, be submitted;

AND FURTHER THAT the Comox Valley Regional District commit to overall grant management if the application is successful.
