McCollum: THAT the report dated May 30, 2023 regarding a request from the Hornby Island Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Association to temporarily process composting toilet residuals at the Comox Valley Sewerage Service biosolids composting facility, as part of a pilot project to assess the viability of a long term composting toilet residual composting program on Hornby Island be received. [Item] |

K. La Rose, Senior Manager of Water/Wastewater Services, provided an overview of the report regarding Hornby Island composting toilet residuals. |

M. McCollum/K. Grant: THAT the Comox Valley Regional District enter into an agreement with the Hornby Island Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Association for processing of their composting toilet residuals at the Comox Valley Sewerage Service composting facility for a two-year trial period;
AND FURTHER THAT should the trial period demonstrate demand for the service on Hornby Island and ease of processing at the Comox Valley Sewerage Service composting facility, and the Hornby community does not approve building a local residuals composting facility, the Comox Valley Sewage Commission support in principle the ongoing receipt and processing of Hornby Island composting toilet residuals. |

THAT as a result of the analysis of routes for the Sewer System Conveyance Project transmission main from the top of Lazo Hill to the Comox Valley Water Pollution Control Centre, the preferred route be modified to follow Lazo Road and Brent Road. |
