CALL TO ORDER AND RECOGNITION OF TRADITIONAL TERRITORIES
The Chair called the meeting to order and acknowledged that the meeting was being held on the unceded traditional territory of the K’o´moks First Nation.

REPORTS
DEVELOPMENT VARIANCE PERMIT DV 2B 24 – 561 ANDREW AVENUE (DUNSMORE)
 
 
T. Trieu, Manager of Planning Services, provided an overview of the report dated September 12, 2024 regarding Development Variance Permit DV 2B 24 - 561 Andrew Avenue (Dunsmore) to reduce the side yard setback of an existing single detached dwelling from 1.75 m to 1.58 m. [Item
 
 
Rick and Colleen Dunsmore, applicants were in attendance.
 
 
A. Rice/A. Gibson: THAT the Area B Advisory Planning Commission support the Development Variance Permit DV 2B 24 - 561 Andrew Avenue (Dunsmore) as presented in the report dated September 12, 2024 for the following reasons:

- the variance is minor in nature;
- the house is existing - the applicants are looking to retain the home on its foundation and to add additional living space for their family;
- permission was requested before construction; and
- the form and character are being retained in the neighbourhood.

DEVELOPMENT VARIANCE PERMIT DV 3B 24 – 1150 PARRY PLACE (HANSON)
 
 
C. Ruff, Planner I, provided an overview of the report dated September 12, 2024 regarding Development Variance Permit DV 3B 24 – 1150 Parry Place (Hanson) to increase the maximum permitted height from 7 meters to 7.45 meters to enable the construction of an accessory building (garage). [Item
 
 
A. Gibson/A. Rice: THAT the Area B Advisory Planning Commission support the Development Variance Permit Development Variance Permit DV 3B 24 – 1150 Parry Place (Hanson) as presented in the report dated September 12, 2024 for the following reasons:

- the variance is minor in nature;
- the applicant's intent was not malicious;
- the purpose of the variance is to raise the building above the water table and still retain the ability for the building to be used as intended; and
- there is no over-riding effect on the neighbouhood due to the increase in height.
